Maybe it’s changed since 2021 when this happened but I called the police after waking up to burglars in the house at about 2am (heard them downstairs, they ran off as soon as i put the light on) and multiple cars responded including a K9 unit they had looking for them in about 5mins. They definitely will come if it’s an in-progress emergency…

Indeed, I grew up surrounded by USAF bases, several of which were known to house nukes, so it would have been a fairly slow grim ending, as too far away from the blast zone, but right in the radiation zone. These days, people need to prepare for flooding, power cuts, natural gas shortages, etc, but I doubt that the majority of people even posses…
