At least smart tv's have a meaningful use case. People want to watch a lot of movies and shows from the Internet, so it makes sense to build that capability into the tv. Yes, the bloat and adware sucks, but the core idea makes sense. With fridges though, I've never felt the need for any internet connectivity.

Samsung refrigerators have always been notoriously bad. They lead the industry in failure rates. I had one about 10 years ago, gorgeous design, cheaply engineered. Ice maker started freezing itself shut, then the fridge wouldn’t hold temp, then the freezer failed. Spent several weeks fighting with them to honor the warranty, finally got it.
